Rebuilding Our Masjid

Building for Generations to Come

إِنَّمَا يَعْمُرُ مَسَاجِدَ اللَّهِ مَنْ آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ

“The Mosques of Allah are built only by those who believe in Allah and the Last Day…”
Qur’an 9:18

ASET is undertaking the complete reconstruction of its Masjid and educational facility, transforming the original building into a purpose-built four-floor centre for worship, Qur’an education and community life.

The new building will provide the space and facilities needed to serve our growing community and continue ASET’s work for generations to come.

The image shows a modern building with illuminated decorative panels and a tall spire topped with a crescent moon symbol. The building is labeled 'Ameenia Sultania Educational Trust' and is surrounded by trees and residential houses. The sky is dark, with the moon visible, indicating it is evening or night.

Since opening, ASET has grown steadily in both its educational work and the number of people it serves. As student numbers increased and programmes expanded, the limitations of the original building became increasingly clear.

By 2014, ASET had already begun considering ways to extend the existing site. By 2017, student capacity had been reached, leading us to explore alternative land for a purpose-built educational centre. Several possible sites were considered, but planning and environmental restrictions meant that these options could not be pursued.

The decision was therefore made to completely reconstruct the existing Masjid and educational facility — creating a building designed around the needs of ASET’s students, worshippers and wider community.

This project is not simply about creating a larger building. It is about providing the space needed for Qur’an education, worship and community life to continue and grow for generations to come.

Why We Are Rebuilding

A Masjid Designed for Worship, Learning and Community

The new ASET Masjid and educational facility has been designed to serve the needs of worshippers, students, families and the wider community — combining dedicated spaces for prayer and education with modern, accessible facilities throughout the building.

Worship

A spacious main prayer hall, improved Wuḍū facilities, a dedicated sisters’ floor with separate facilities, and a zoned sound system throughout the building.

Two men shaking hands outdoors, one bald and wearing a gray jacket, the other with glasses and a beard, wearing a black head covering and dark jacket, in front of a brick building.

Community

A multi-purpose hall for activities, community gatherings, recreation and serving food, together with a kitchenette and outdoor seating areas.

A classroom with students wearing white head coverings, sitting at blue desks, raising their hands, and listening to a woman standing at the front near a whiteboard. A large screen displays an aerial view of a city or town.

Education

Eight spacious, modern classrooms, a dedicated library and facilities designed to provide a high-quality learning environment for children and adults.

Accessibility & Comfort

A man standing indoors with his head bowed, wearing a black padded vest over a shirt, against a background of stacked green plastic chairs, a stone-patterned wall, and a window with vertical blinds.

A lift serving the building, disabled toilet facilities, underfloor heating throughout, air conditioning in every room, office space and improved access for the whole community.

Outside, the new development will include seating areas, bicycle parking, planted trees and green space. With its minaret, crescent and distinctive architectural design, the completed Masjid will also become a recognisable landmark within the local area.

The Reconstruction Journey

The reconstruction of ASET has been years in the making, shaped by planning, consultation, fundraising and the continued support of the community.

2019

ASET began exploring the complete reconstruction of the site and sought pre-application planning advice to help shape the future design of the new Masjid and educational facility.

Early Planning and Consultation

2022

Following feedback and further development, a second planning application was submitted with a completely redesigned proposal.

April 2023

Planning Permission Approved

Planning approval was granted, allowing ASET to move forward with the reconstruction project.

Ramadan 2024

ASET formally launched the reconstruction campaign. Over £250,000 was raised or pledged during Ramadan, with further community fundraising continuing throughout the year.

The Fundraising Campaign Begins

June 2025

The original Masjid was demolished and construction officially commenced, while prayers and educational programmes continued from alternative locations.

Construction Begins

2025 - 2026

Excavation, groundwork, the basement, steel structure, concrete floors and brickwork were completed in stages, with internal first-fix works progressing throughout 2026.

The New Building Takes Shape

As of September 2026, the main structure of the new ASET Masjid and educational facility is firmly in place and work is progressing across the building.

Underfloor heating and screeding have been completed, while first-fix works — including wiring, pipework, insulation and plasterboarding — are progressing throughout the building.

The upper two floors have now completed their first-fix stage and are ready for plastering, while work continues simultaneously on completing the external shell and advancing the remaining internal works.

Each completed stage brings the project closer to becoming a fully functioning Masjid, educational centre and community facility.
